Speedy Video Capture Editor's Review
Simple but Lightweight Video Capture
If you want to record a YouTube video or other video scenes for later use, Speedy Video Capture allows you to record it as you watch.
The software is relatively easy to set up and use. You just outline the area of your screen you want to capture and click a button to start and to finish. The result - an AVI file. Unfortunately, the software captures whatever is shown on the selected area, so careless moving of the mouse will show up in your completed video capture.
The interface is basic, but serviceable, and the ability to select the exact area and scenes that you wish to capture allows for a level of control that can be quite useful, especially for those without experience, software or skills in video editing. However, it's not completely idiot-proof. You need to make sure that you rename each file before you begin capturing a new video, or your previous capture will be overwritten. While this is a relatively easy step, forgetting it can lead to quite a lot of frustration, and is a pretty silly thing for the developers to have overlooked.
While there is an English-language version of the software, it is a French-language product originally, making finding extra information or help slightly more challenging.
Video capture can skip at times, although image quality itself is adequate for personal use.
Pro's: Quick to get started, easy to use.
Con's: Saved files can be overwritten, skipping.
Conclusion: As a quick solution to basic video capture needs it is an option, altough for any more advanced requirements you might want something a bit more heavyweight.
